MRS. GRACE FLORENCE ""HAP"" KUEHN of Lethbridge, formerly of Skiff and Warner, beloved wife of Mr. Herbert Kuehn, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, July 23, 2010 at the age of 91 years.
Grace was born on November 9, 1918 to John and Mary Beneth Lonsdale in Warner, Alberta. She grew up on the farm in Warner and worked for various neighbors as a farm-hand before meeting her husband Herbert, and marrying on October 18, 1939.
Grace served on the School Board from 1956 - 1958. She was a lifetime member of the Skiff Ladies' Club since its inception in 1954. She followed Herbert into flying and got her pilot's license at the same time as her daughter. She would knit while Herbert was flying, and accomplished not only learning to knit from Herbert, but knitted a beautiful airplane inspired sweater for him. She was involved with the Boy Scouts from 1953 to 1959. Grace was known for her wedding cakes, and made over 85 of them, which she gave away to family and friends as their wedding gifts.
She is survived by her husband Herbert, her children; Franklyn (Lynn) Kuehn, Ethel (Alan) Graham, Kenneth (Lori) Kuehn, and Paige Hartman, along with 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Caroline (Bill) Hamilton, her sister-in-law Katherine (Lonsdale) Lavers and brother-in-law Wesley Kuehn as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents John and Mary Beneth Lonsdale, her granddaughter Jodi Graham, 4 sisters, 2 brothers, 3 sisters-in-law, and 6 brothers-in-law.
Family and Friends are invited to pay their respects at 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 30, 2010 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Major Glen Habkirk, officiating.
