GEORGE DOUGLAS GOODRICH, beloved husband of the late Vivien Goodrich, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Thursday July 23, 2009 at the age of 88 years.
George was born on December 19, 1920 in Marengo, Saskatchewan. The family moved to Bowden, Alberta in 1928 and then in 1930 to Acme, Alberta. George, just out of high school, joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1939 and spent the next 6 years posted in various locations in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. He married Vivien in 1943 and received his discharge from the RCAF in 1945. He and Vivien moved to Judson, Alberta where he was a grain buyer for Alberta Wheat Pool. In 1947 they moved to Lethbridge where he worked for Sick's Brewery until retiring in 1980. In 1974 they moved to a farm near Diamond City where they could enjoy what they loved the most - their horses. George was an avid hunter and sports fan, he especially liked to watch baseball and hockey, he also enjoyed playing a good hand of cards.
He is survived by his son Douglas, daughter-in-law Elizabeth, granddaughter Brittany, 2 sisters - Alma Jean and Ruth (Baltser), a sister-in-law - Shirley and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister, 1 brother-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law.
Cremation has taken place and as per George's request there will be no funeral services.
