John Gillam 1950 ~ 2014 John Gillam of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Pat and dear father of Sean and Brad, passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 28, 2014 surrounded by his family at the Chinook Regional Hospital. John was 64 years old. John Edward Gillam was born May 9, 1950 in Sherbrooke Quebec to Leonard and Vera Gillam. John grew up in the Eastern Townships where he finished school and later went on to work for the Canadian Pacific Railway. He transferred to Alberta in 1970. That's where he met Pat Hughes, the love of his life. They were married in September, 1973 and over the next 41 years; they built a wonderful life together filled with love, family and fun. Their two sons, Sean 1976 and Brad 1978 were born and new adventures were shared over the years including BMX, camping, hockey, football and John's involvement supporting various teams, projects and managing positions always showing his devotion for his sons. John was a member of the Lethbridge Country Club where he enjoyed golf and social time with ""the guys"". Grandchildren Shane, Blake, Maddie and Lizzie added to John's joy and he loved his time with the little ones. Smiles and laughter filled the Gillam home. John had a great love of family and attended many get togethers, birthdays and reunions. In recent years, John and Pat spent their winters in Texas enjoying warmer weather and extending the golf season and spending time with many friends. John is survived by his wife, Pat and sons, Sean and Brad; grandchildren, two sisters, Marilyn and Cindy and brother, David. He will fondly be remembered by nieces and nephews and friends. The family would like to express our gratitude and thanks for all the support shown from his friends and the community in our time of mourning. A Celebration of John's Life will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, October 3, 2014 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL.
