Gerritdina Lohuis

GERRITDINA JOHANNA (DINI) LOHUIS passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at the age of 78 years.

Dini was predeceased by her husband Jan Gerrit (John) in 1970. She is survived by her sister Hanny Schuttevaar of Hellendoorn, Netherlands; daughter Ineke (Kevin) Gibson of Okotoks and grandchildren Kristen (Jalmer), John and Kerry; son Garry (Mary Ann) Lohuis of Calgary and grandchildren Jennifer and Andrew.

Dini was born in Hellendoorn, Netherlands on December 20, 1930 and immigrated to Canada in 1952 with her husband John. They first moved to Prince Albert, SK as part of the Canadian Immigration Program later moving to Medicine Hat, AB and finally residing in Lethbridge. Dini worked as a faithful employee at the Edith Cavell Nursing Home from 1971-1966, and in that period of time she only missed one day of work.

The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of Columbia Lodge and the St. Michael's Palliative Care Centre in Lethbridge who provided excellent and compassionate care in Dini's final days. At the request of Dini, there will be no formal service. Her children and grandchildren will celebrate her life at a private gathering.
