George William Lee

1945 ~ 2016

Mr. George Lee, beloved husband of Mrs. Marilyn Lee, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016 at the age of 71 years.

George was born in Grays, Essex in the UK, on May 31, 1945, where he also attended school. George served in the Navy and also the British Army. He immigrated to Alberta in 1922. He worked in the real estate business for many years, and later in the renovation business. Prior to his retirement in 2009, he was employed as a customs officer with Canada Border Services for 18 years. He was an avid golfer, excellent chef, and karaoke king. He loved to travel and he and Marilyn spend many winters in Mexico and Arizona.

Besides his loving wife, George is survived by his daughter Tammy Flannigan; his two sons Alex Lee (Christina), Robert Lee (Lisa); three step-children Debbie Stefanuk (Jason), Cathy Wendorff (Mark), Jim Bergman (Shelley); thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers Jeff, Stephen and Tom; sisters Mary, Isabel, Heather and Vera.

A Celebration of George’s Life will be held at 5:00pm on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at SMUGGLERS SALOON, Coutts, AB.
