It is with deep sorrow that the family of GEORGE HARPER announces his passing at St. Michael's Palliative Care on March 15, 2010 after a lengthy illness.

George leaves behind his wife Sharon of 52 years, four children, Lynda (Derek) Bly of Lethbridge, Diana (Morgan) Tudor of Calgary, Brenda Nickle of Ottawa and David (Katie) Harper of Calgary; as well as 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also lovingly remembered by his sisters-in-law Joyce (George) Kosowan and Joan (Ted) Garrow, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Isobel and Harold Angle, step-father Hugh Harper, his sister Florence and brother-in-law Ken Hudson, and niece Linda Holczer.

George was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, December 17, 1933. He attended Bowman School and LCI. After school, he worked for Enerson Motors and the Royal Bank in Lethbridge before joining the Canadian Armed Forces. George's time in the Armed Forces saw him posted to Germany twice, Oromocto, NB, Winnipeg and Shilo, MB, ending his military career with a posting to the Lethbridge Armouries. He also served with Canadian Peacekeeping Forces in Cyprus in 1972.

After retiring from the Canadian Forces, George worked for Northern Eau Claire Lumber before serving with the Corps of Commissionaires in Lethbridge. He was a 36-year member of the Royal Canadian Legion General Stewart Branch #4.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 19, 2010 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta. A Legion Tribute will be held.

Donations in George's memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion General Stewart Branch #4 Poppy Fund, 324 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 3L7.
