Gary, a treasured partner, son, brother, uncle and deeply loved friend, passed away peacefully at home on August 3, 2026, at the age of 66.
He was predeceased by his loving parents Lammert and Stella Versteeg. He leaves behind his partner Leona, siblings Joann (Robert), Roy (Dee), Dwight (Renita), Howard (Michele) and his nieces and nephews and their families.
Gary had an easy-going nature and loved to share stories with anyone, anytime, about anything. His presence brought warmth and laughter. Having Gary as a brother was one of life’s greatest gifts.
He also had fierce independence and was known for his strength and determination. No matter what life brought, he faced it with courage and perseverance.
Although he earned his angel wings far too soon, Gary’s spirit will live on in every story shared, every laugh remembered, and every moment spent with family and friends.
We will miss you deeply, Gary, but we will honor your memory every single day.
Our family, together with a great group of Gary’s friends, is hosting a “Remembering Gary” reception at the Diamond City Community Hall from 2:30pm to 5:00pm on Friday, August 21, 2026.
