Gary Stuart Arthur of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Elizabeth Arthur, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, February 28, 2020, at the age of 76 years.

Born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia on October 21, 1943, Gary was the only son of the late James Clarence Arthur and Katherine (Kay) Arthur who predeceased him.

Gary is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Liz) Anne Arthur; daughters Ginger (Russ) Arthur Ciesla, Christina (Kevin) Arthur Dick, and Katherine (Orrin) Dell; grandsons Brandon Norris, Carter Dell, Sidney Dell, and Grayson Dick; aunts Rena Arbuckle of Southerlands River, NS, and Eileen Arbuckle of Mahone Bay, NS.

Gary travelled west in 1967 after seeing a sign saying “go west” and took the train to Edmonton where he landed a job with the bank of Nova Scotia. His financial career took him to jobs with the Credit Union, Heritage Inn Hotels and Magenta Management. Until diagnosed with Dementia, Gary was an active member with Park Meadows Baptist Church, teaching bible studies to parishioners. Gary loved woodworking, listening to the radio, coin and stamp collecting during his many travels with his wife Liz.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Good Samaritan West Highland Centre, the Chinook Regional Hospital, the staff from the Emergency Room and especially Dr. Orr for taking excellent care of Gary during his final stay.

A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be held at 10:00 am, on Friday, March 6, 2020, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
