Andrew David Fraser

1962 ~ 2015

Andrew David Fraser left us suddenly on March 30, 2015 at the young age of 52, beloved husband of brenda gullickson-fraser.

Andy was born on February 21, 1962 at St. Michael’s Hospital to parents Henry and Joan Fraser of Carmangay he was the second youngest of four children.

He was predeceased by his father Henry. Andy is survived by his wife brenda; his family Christopher (Michelle) Gullickson, Tiffany Gullickson; grandson James Tatum Gullickson, his loving mother Joan Fraser; siblings Jane (Don) Gothard, Phillip (Kelly) Fraser, Marion (Shane) McClarty; nieces and nephews Allison and Amy Gothard, Andrew, Clintin, and Jenna Fraser, Megan, Josh and Jared McClarty as well as many extended family members.

Andy loved growing up on the farm by Travers Reservoir and moved with the family to Carmangay in 1969. He attended the Carmangay School from grade 1-6, then Champion School from grade 7-9, followed by High School in Vulcan. Andy spent a few years in Fernie, as the owner/operator of an Arcade. From there he went on to rough necking, cat skidding, working with Keho Alta Products Ltd. where he acquired his welding ticket and later spent time in sales. Andy went to LCC to complete his high school diploma and went on to SAIT into the Power Engineering Program. After graduation Andy began working in the Oil & Gas industry with AMOCO at Fox Creek, Rimbey Gulf Plant, Shell Steen River Plant, and Caribou Steen River. Andy was presently working for PennWest Plants, Mega & Sloat. Due to the remote conditions of some of the work sites Andy began piloting helicopters for Airborne, Black Swan, and Valley B Aviation Companies.

Andy loved his fishing trips with his brother Phil to Spring Creek, AB and Duck Lake, Montana. He also loved sport shooting, motorcycling, quading and ripping around on his Razor side by side. Andy loved to be called a “gear head” as a proud Hot Road Enthusiast. The man never stayed still; if you thought of something, be careful he would start building it. Presently, Andy was working on his 94’ Chevy Short Box 383 Stroker and a 47’ Chevy half ton that he and LeRoy Gullickson restored. His other toys included his airplane commander 112, quad, razor side by side, Suzuki Blvd. Motorcycle, a 2009 Dodge 3/4 ton and his 2010 Hummer 3T . You could also find him on the acreage in his backhoe or bobcat, finding any excuse for landscaping.

Family was most important to Andy, and his new obsession was his 15 month old grandson James. Andy was determined to be the first one to buy James his first car, and surprised us all by doing this at Christmas; which has now resulted in James following in the gear head tradition. Andy was planning to start construction on a Jeep toddler bed as his next project. Andy was so proud of all his nieces & nephews and thrilled that his name sake Andrew (Bud); whom is not only a major gear head but also followed Andy becoming a Power Engineer.

Andy was loved more than he cared to acknowledge, which will be evident in the Celebration of his life this Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 2:00pm at the BARONS COMMUNITY HALL, 210 Main St. Barons, AB. (CASUAL DRESS ONLY, PLEASE)
