Frank Gelleny
Service Details
MR. FRANK GELLENY of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Vivian Gelleny, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, May 20, 2007 at the age of 78 years.
Frank was born in Raymond, Alberta. He was the third of 8 children and the second oldest boy; all were kept busy on the farm first near Raymond, then near Diamond City. At the tender age of 12 he met the girl who would be the love of his life, Vivian Komar, at the Coalhurst Post Office. After Vivian completed her nursing training at the Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary, the couple wed and lived in Coalhurst, where they owned and operated a service station called Frank's Service. Five years later Frank, who'd been called a ""Super Mechanic"" by his customers took his skills to International Harvester in Lethbridge, where he spent the rest of his working career. Around this time Frank and Vivian moved to North Lethbridge where Frank pursued his hobbies of tinkering with anything mechanical, playing guitar and country and western music. He and Vivian often enjoyed long drives around Southern Alberta.
Frank was always asking if he could lend you a hand. He was thoughtful and caring and enjoyed helping friends and family. His neighbours appreciated his ingenuity when he cleared their sidewalks with his garden tractor and the snow blade he designed for it.
Besides his loving wife Vivian, Frank will be missed by his sisters Helen (John) Aranyos, Margaret (Bob) Hall of Hamilton, ON and Rosie (Charlie) Urban; brother Tom (Connie); brother-in-law John (Clara) Komar; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Frank was predeceased by his siblings Julie (Steve), John (Elsie) and Roy.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00PM on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at MARTIN BROS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge. Interment to follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
