MR. FRANK ACKERMAN of Lethbridge passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the age of 86 years.
Frank is survived by 2 brothers John and Joe (Patti); 4 sons Rick (Arlene), Clint (Leslie), Pat (Joy), Darrin (Catherine); 5 grandchildren Alice, Matt, Sloane, Clayton, Taylor and Aurielle; and 1 great grandchild Adam. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Mary, his first wife of 49 years Mary; his second wife Sophie Machacek, brothers Bernard, Martin and Tony, and sisters: Theresa and Angela.
Frank was born on the family farm near Denzil, Saskatchewan on January 5, 1924. After finishing grade 12, he attended normal school in Moose Jaw and returned to be the teacher at the school he had just graduated from. Frank married Mary Sieben in 1945 and they raised their family in several small towns: Marshal, Saskatchewan and Provost, Alberta where he was a teacher; Clyde, Alberta and Stettler, Alberta where he was a principal. In 1967 the family moved to Edmonton when Frank accepted the position of executive assistant with the Alberta Teacher's Association. After retiring in 1979 Frank and Mary stayed in Edmonton until 1995 when they moved to Lethbridge. After Mary's passing Frank married Sophie in 2000 and they continued to reside in Lethbridge. In his adult life Frank enjoyed many good times golfing and curling with his friends. Frank was an avid reader and musician, who entertained many with his guitar playing and singing. He was also active with English Council, and the Lion's and Gyro Clubs.
Frank will be laid to rest in the family plot in Mountain View cemetery during a private family interment.
