FLEMING
MARGUERITE PEARL FLEMING passed away in Lethbridge on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at the age of 92 years. She spent her last days at St. Michael's Health Centre, surrounded by the love of her three children who were present, and the attentive, kind and caring staff of St. Michael's Health Centre, supported by the guidance of her long time physician Dr. Alan McPherson.
She is predeceased by her husband Milo Dana Fleming; her son John (Carol) Fleming; parents Newton and Lucy Bingeman; her brother and sister-in-law Marshal and Kay Bingeman; brother and sister-in-law Carl and Anne Bingeman; Milo's and her brother-in-law Hans Fisher.
Marguerite will be lovingly remembered by her children, Merna (Russ) Kupin, Carla (Brent) Sato and Darryl (Maureen) Fleming; daughter-in-law Carol Fleming; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; as well as Milo's sister Susanne (Hans) Fisher.
Marguerite was born on the family homestead near Esther, Alberta, on November 6, 1915. She had many good memories of life in that area. After completing high school and Toronto Conservatory music training, she attended Normal School in Calgary to become a teacher. Music and the English language were her top interests in teaching.
She married Milo in 1941. When he joined the army, she joined him at his cities of training. While he was overseas, she first worked in Vancouver then later taught outside of Vermilion, Alberta. When Milo was demobilized, they moved to Wrentham and then Lethbridge. They next lived in Vermilion from 1955 until 1963, after which they moved back to Lethbridge and remained there. Together they raised four children. Marguerite was a faithful member of the church, in Lethbridge at the First Baptist Church and served in many ways. She sang in the choir for years and sometimes played the organ and piano in the churches she attended.
Marguerite was a wonderful mother and homemaker, devoted to her family, and remembered for her home-cooked meals and crabapple jelly. She gardened and sewed. Marguerite tackled problems with quiet strength and soldiered on with any difficulties she encountered.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at First Baptist Church, with Pastor Ron Harris officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marguerite's name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, #207, 542-7th Street S., Lethbridge AB T1J 2H1.
