Safe in the Arms of Jesus

After celebrating her 98th Birthday with her children on December 4th, 2009, ANTJE FEENSTRA's (nee Roosjen) desire of going home to Jesus was granted on December 23, 2009.

She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Rein, in 1985. Born in Workum, Friesland, the Netherlands, together with 8 of their 9 children they immigrated to Canada in 1951, to the Picture Butte area to work sugar beets and later moved to Lethbridge in 1957, to start farming. Mom (known as Beppe to 30 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild) was a very loving, giving person and a dedicated volunteer for various charities and organizations. She loved to be of help and until she broke her hand, her hands were never still, always knitting, crocheting or writing cards and letters. She was an active person and rode her bicycle in Lethbridge until she was 90 years old.

She loved to sing and was a member of the choir for many years, as well as the ""Ora et Labora"" Ladies Society, and Evangelism Committee of the Christian Reformed Church. Mom is survived by 3 sons; Ray (Helen) of Taber, Andy (Fanny) of Nobleford, John (Helen) of Medicine Hat, 4 daughters; Ida (Fred) Van Der Molen of Cranbrook, Rose Feenstra of Medicine Hat, Martha (Arie) de Klerk of Lethbridge, and Elisabet Feenstra of Coaldale, along with 2 daughters-in-law; Ida Bowman Feenstra of Surrey, and Martha Feenstra of Kimberley, and many nieces and nephews in Canada and Holland.

Mom was predeceased by two sons, Jake and Ype, 2 daughters-in-law Fanny and Ann, one son-in-law Rein Feenstra, 3 great grandchildren, and 3 sisters and their spouses in Holland.

A Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Trinity Reformed Church, 1100 40th Avenue North, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Reverend Hank Van der Woerd, officiating. Family Interment Services will be held earlier in the Mountain View Cemetery - Family Plot.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to the Alberta Lung Association, P.O. Box 4500 Station Street, Edmonton, AB T6E 6K2, or to Rehoboth Christian Association, Box 1312, Coaldale, AB T1M 1N1.
