Emma Barnes

MRS. EMMA CAROLINE BARNES of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Frank Barnes, passed away peacefully at the Edith Cavell Health Centre on Saturday March 24, 2012 at the age of 97 years.

Emma was born in a farm house North West of Foremost, AB on September 13, 1914. She was the fourth of seven children born to Alfred and Inga Halvorson. She spent all of her years in southern Alberta in communities that included Foremost, Mountain View, Warner, Manyberries, Hussar, and for the last 55 plus years Lethbridge.

She married Frank Barnes in Medicine Hat on July 4, 1938 and her lone child, son Ron, was born on April 21, 1940.

Emma was well liked by all who knew her and wasn't one to complain about anything.

Emma is survived by her son Ron Barnet of Coquitlam, BC, grandchildren Janell Ilagan of Calgary and Danine Meester of Chilliwack, BC, and four great-grandchildren. Besides her beloved husband Frank, Emma was predeceased by her parents Alfred and Inga, brothers Oscar, Selmer and Clarence and sisters Lily, Anna and Mary.

Her ashes will join those of her beloved husband Frank with a private graveside in Lethbridge's Archmount Cemetery.
