Emily Howg

Emily Kathryn (Olson) Howg, beloved wife of the late Les Howg, passed away in Lethbridge on Friday, July 24, 2009 at the age of 86 at The Good Samaritan, Park Meadow Village. Emily was born at Enchant on June 20, 1923. She took her schooling at Sundial. In 1942 she married Les and farmed in the Enchant area until 1965 when they moved to Red Deer and they operated a coin-operated carwash for seven years. Emily also worked at various jobs in Red Deer. Later they resided in Lethbridge where Les passed away in 2001. Emily is survived by her four daughters - Della, Joan (Wayne), Jackie (Larry) and Darcy, as well as ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; brothers Clifford, Donald (June) and Howard (Jean) and sister-in-law Lillian.

She was also predeceased by her parents Ole and Nellie Olson, brothers Harold and Herman and her sister Esther; sister-in-law Eleanor; brother-in-law Charlie Gillespie; in-laws Ole and Lena Howg; brothers and sisters-in-laws Floyd and Rose Howg, Art and Phyllis Howg, Severt Severtson and Henry Haugen.

As per Emily's wishes, there will be no funeral service. Cremation will take place at Martin Bros. in Lethbridge. A private family graveside service is planned for a later date.

The family wishes to thank all the caregivers at The Good Samaritans, Park Meadows at the Main Building and Cottage #5 for all their loving care that they provided to our mom over the past seven years. It was very much appreciated.
