Elsie McIlroy

MRS. ELSIE McILROY a long time resident of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Arthur ""Art"" McIlroy, passed away peacefully at Extendicare with her family at her side, on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 almost at the age of 100 years.

Elsie was born in South Dakota on June 16, 1908 to Martin and Johanna Jensen. Throughout her life she was involved in many organizations and was a great leader in most of them. Many of us remember her as a fantastic baker both at her job at Lethbridge Municipal Hospital and at her own home. Her cinnamon buns were legendary.

Elsie is survived by her daughters Alice (Bill) Shostak of Calgary and Betty (Wayne) Grusie of Wanham, AB; daughter-in-law Jen of Lethbridge; brother James (Shirley) Jensen of Calgary; sisters-in-law Doris, Kay and Lorraine Jensen; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Besides her beloved husband Art, Elsie was predeceased by her daughter Jeannie; son Earl; brothers Chester, Bing and Clarence Jensen and sister Cora Johnston.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Terry Shillington, officiating. Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
