MR. EDWARD CHARLES PAYNE of Lethbridge, AB., beloved husband of the late Lorna Jean Payne, passed away after a lengthy illness on November 2, 2009 at the age of 76 years.

Ed was born and raised in Calgary, AB. on November 15, 1932. He graduated from Western Canada High School. Ed had a love for a wide range of music and of course, dancing. He played with the Calgary Junior Philharmonic Orchestra as a violinist. Ed also had a real knack for art and all kind of handy-man projects. Ed's line of employment and business was also quite varied which ranged from a print shop, farming, shoe store, and salesman. Ed and Lorna loved their travel trailers, camping and of course enjoying the company of several pet dogs.

Ed was also predeceased by his parents, Charles and Faith Payne; his brother Peter and great-granddaughter Eliana Ng.

Ed is survived by his children Doug (Margaret) Payne, Gordon Payne, Valerie (Dan) Hickey; his step-children Kathy (Brian) Harbidge, Doug (Deborra) Moore, Larry (Laurie) Moore. Ed was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 14 great-children with two more on the way. Ed is also survived by his brother Cyril (Margaret) Payne, and his sister Gladys (Neil) Shaben.

Ed will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to express our sincere thanks to the medical staff at the Chinook Regional Hospital for all the help and compassion they gave to Dad and his family.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 1614 5th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB. with Dr. Bruce Martin officiating. Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
