Douglas Roy McKenzie July 6, 1943 ~ March 21, 2014

It is with a heavy heart I announce the quiet and sudden passing of my husband Douglas McKenzie, on Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Chinook Regional Hospital.

Doug is survived by Linda, his loving wife of 43 years; brother David (Ann); nephew Lee, niece Jan. He was predeceased by his parents Roy and Edith and youngest brother Robert Lee (Bobbie).

Doug was born July 6, 1943 in West Ham London, England; he came to Canada at age of 2 years, living the rest of his life in Southern Alberta. He started his entrepreneur years as stock boy for Kresge, then wholesale manager for Southern Stationers, purchaser for CIP- Price Daxion Paper, to owning his own business.

He was passionate about books, an avid fisherman who loved spending time camping in the Gap and Oldman River areas, road trips and relaxing with the ""next good read"". Doug was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, he loved playing shuffleboard (Canadian champion), darts (Provincial champion), dominos, golf and the fellowship of Legion members.

The family is honoring his wishes of not marking his passing with any formal service. Cremation has taken place and his ashes will be spread at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please attend and enjoy your local library.

As a memorial to Doug, find a friend, a relative, or a co-worker, take a walk in nature and raise a toast to a life that was and a memory that will live on with all of us.

If desired, a donation in his memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, 324 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 3L7 or you may give blood in honour of Doug to your nearest Canadian Blood Services Clinic, 1-888-2DONATE.
