J.W. DOUGLAS GRANT of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Janet Grant, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2007 at the age of 88 years.
Doug was born November 20, 1918 on the family farm in Balblair, Scotland. He went to work as a mechanic at McCrae and Dyck Garage in Nairn. He joined the RAF in 1940 as an aeromechanic. He was posted to South Africa then he was posted back to Scotland and received an honorable discharge in January 1946. In 1951 Doug moved his family to Canada settling in Picture Butte where he worked for Rae Motors. He started with Massey Ferguson in 1953 in Lethbridge and moved with the company to Calgary, Salmon Arm and retiring back to Lethbridge. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hiking and was actively involved in the Lethbridge Seniors Center.
Doug is survived by his daughter Marg (Fred) McKay of Lethbridge; 3 grandchildren Dawn (Rod) Flexhaug; Steve Grant (Favron) and Clint Grant (Virginia) of Calgary; 3 great-grandchildren Nicole (Greg) Arlett and Kyle Grant and Brooklyn Grant; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Besides his loving wives Jan and Clara, Doug was predeceased by his parents John and Ina; brother Bob (Edna) Grant; sisters Elsie (Bill) Rae; son Brian and daughter-in-law Pat.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 12:00PM and 1:00PM on Monday, February 12, 2007 at MARTIN BROS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 St. South, Lethbridge, AB.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, February 12, 2007 at MARTIN BROS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, with Reverend Terry Shillington officiating. Inurnment at a later date in Mountain View Cemetery.
