Doris Jensen

Send Flowers

Doris Jensen passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026, at the age of 107, just ten days after celebrating a birthday she looked forward to every year.

Born in 1919 in Wrentham, Alberta, Doris married Chester Jensen and together they farmed in the Park Lake area for 40 years, retiring to Picture Butte in 1976 and later to Lethbridge in 1993.

Doris was active with the Women's Institute and Eastern Star, worked in the children's department at Eaton's, and drove school bus for local farm kids. Doris enjoyed quilting. Her and Chester bowled, loved camping, fishing and boating where their grandchildren often tagged along, and playing cards with friends — Doris was a sharp hand at Crib.  They enjoyed bus trips with friends to cities and casinos around the region.

Doris had a green thumb, growing enough vegetables that once canned, and had enough food for her family for the entire winter.  She had a reputation for baking the best bread in the community and also grew gorgeous flowers.

She is survived by her children Evelyn Miller (Jack) and Ken (Linda) Jensen; grandchildren Shauna Lovell, Brad (Toni) Pilling, Kerri (Keith) Burchill, Susan (Rod) Sjogren and Bob (Carla) Jensen; great-grandchildren Clair (Will) Evans, Cale (Sophie) Pilling, Joseph (Becca) Pilling, Ian (Savannah) Pilling, Chance (Brooklyn) Sjogren and Walker, Cooper and Gibson Jensen; great-great-grandchildren Liam and Oliver Evans and Hudson and Cooper Pilling; sister-in-law Lorraine Jensen; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Chester Jensen; grandsons Dean Lovell, James Marten Jensen and Kenneth Michael Jensen; her seven brothers; and an infant sister.

It’s hard to imagine being born at the end of WWI, living through the depression and WWII, as well as multiple pandemics.  In an interview, Doris captured her approach to life when she gave the advice, “You go and do.  You do what you have to do.  That’s it.”

Special thanks to Fairmont Extendicare in Lethbridge for their sensitive, compassionate care, as well as the extra mile love from Karen Ostrup, and her Doctor.

A Graveside Services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at ARCHMOUNT CEMETERY, 2710 Westside Drive West, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Dr. Bruce Martin, officiating.
