Peter Derksen

Official Obituary of

29/10/1936 - to - 15/9/2024

Following a second battle with cancer, Peter Derksen passed away and went to be with Jesus on September 15, 2024.

Peter is survived by his wife of 63 years, Violet Derksen (Friesen); daughters Sherry (Derksen) and Bob Brown; Lucinda (Derksen) and Dion Regan; grandchildren Jessalyn Brown, Jonah Brown, Rebecca (Regan) and Mike Bolden; granddaughter in law Alexandra McCallum Brown, and great grandson Ezra Brown. He is also survived by siblings Bill Derksen, Jake Derksen, John Derksen, Sue Friesen, Anna Heppner, Margaret Nickol, Agnes VanderWahl and Ben Derksen.

He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Susannah Derksen; siblings Harold Derksen, Dave Derksen, Abe Derksen, Kay Isaac, Betty Mudri, and George Derksen. He was also predeceased by his grandson Jacob Brown (2023).

Peter was born in Saskatchewan, but spent most of his life in southern Alberta, the Interior of BC, mostly in Cranbrook, and then back to Lethbridge, Alberta for the last 20 years. He is known and remembered for his kind heart and softspoken nature, his hard work ethic, his genuine talent in working on car exteriors, especially the restoration of his 1951 Kaiser, and his unwavering faith in God.

He worked for many years in the autobody industry and was especially popular with the large transport truck owners, who appreciated his attention to detail. He was actively involved in his faith community, volunteering and lending a hand where needed. He enjoyed game nights, puzzles, cross country skiing, small construction or reno projects and reading. He was beloved by his wife, daughters, and extended family. He will be dearly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30pm on Friday, September 27, 2024, at EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH OF LETHBRIDGE, 4717 – 24 Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta with Pastor Dave Acree officiating. A private family graveside will be held prior.
