MR. DERALD ERICKSON of Lethbridge, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at the age of 89 years.

Derald served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. In recognition of his skills during this time he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Derald is survived by his daughter Judy Dubois of Lethbridge; grandsons Christian John Dubois of Lethbridge, Warren (Tammy) Still of Lethbridge; granddaughter Diana Anderson of Lethbridge; great-grandchildren Brandon Anderson of Lethbridge, Audrey Still of Lethbridge; and Aunt Lucille Pyne of Lethbridge.

Derald was predeceased by his first born child, Carol Ann Still who was born on January 15, 1947 and passed away on January 3, 1974 in Calgary, Alberta; first wife Olive Diana Birket Erickson who was born on October 17, 1922 and passed away on August 9, 2008; four sisters, two that passed away as infants, Evelyn Flexhaug who passed away in the early 1980s and June Leota Duncan who was born on June 16, 1927 and passed away on October 8, 2002; and his parents, Ethel and Lief Erickson. Lief passed away in 1951 and Ethel in 1988.

A special thank-you to the owner's and staff at Pop's Pub who treated Derald ""The Old Viking from Snowy River"", with great kindness and respect. Also thanks to the ladies of the Legion Arms for their support and care.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm, on Thursday, July 16, 2009, at the MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPELS, 610 - 4 St., S., Lethbridge, AB, with Pastor Brian Magee officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
