It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dean James Melton of Lethbridge on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the age of 47 years, after a brief illness at the Chinook Regional Hospital. Dean was born in Calgary, lived many years in Red Deer and moved to Lethbridge in 1997.
Dean is survived by his sister Cindy (Doug) Miller and children Amanda and Michael of New Brunswick; sister Melanie Melton (Chris White) and children Christopher and Hanna of Ontario; and godmother Marina Killgalon of Calgary. Dean was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Ilse Melton. Dean will be sadly missed by his family, as well as his many supportive friends and caregivers through his lifetime.
Dean's family sends warmest thanks to the following, for providing the special care needed for Dean: Dr. David Stewart, and various medical staff over the years, public guardian representatives John Scott and retired James Lakaparampil. At his passing, residential support with Edenbridge Family Services and all their wonderful caregivers who became Dean's second family, S.A.C.L.A. and Quest Support Services for Dean's day program support workers. A special thank you to Dean's friend, caregiver and advocate Kathy Stirling during his years in Lethbridge.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Trevor Potter officiating.
