Dean LIen

MR. DEAN LIEN of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Linda Lien, passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at the age of 77 years.

Dean was born at the Galt Hospital on January 27, 1934 to Ole and Vera Lien. He was raised and educated in Warner, Alberta. Dean attended University in Saskatoon and then farmed in Warner until 1963. Dean worked at the UFA Co-op in Calgary until 1974, then returned to the family farm where he and Linda raised their family, leaving after 22 years. In 1998, Dean was honoured to serve the farmers of Alberta as the Farmers Advocate for 6 years in Edmonton. Upon retirement, they then returned to Lethbridge where he remained until his passing.

Besides his loving wife Linda, Dean is survived by his three daughters Vicki (Lawrie) Skolrood and their children Metta and Tanner; Patti (Grant) Rude and their children Lisa and Max; Kristin (Corri) Hunsperger and their daughter Brielle; son Colburn; brother Bob (Donna) Lien; mother-in-law Barbara Kanig, as well as numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Dean is predeceased by his parents Ole and Vera Lien, father-in-law Tony Kanig and Dorothy (Kelts) Lien.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30pm on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at PARK MEADOWS BAPTIST CHURCH, 2011 - 15 Ave North, Lethbridge, with Pastor Barry Seifert officiating. A private family Graveside Service was held.
