It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Cornelis van Velthuizen, at the age of 89, on Saturday, July 4, 2026.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jantje; his children, Coba Van Velthuizen, Hennie (Gerard) van de Bruinhorst, Maas (Michelle) van Velthuizen, Elly (Alex) van de Bruinhorst, Gys (Geraldine) van Velthuizen, Ken (Diane) Slingerland, and Ditta (Tony) Liefting; 53 grandchildren; and 47 great-grandchildren.
Cornelis was born in Ede, the Netherlands. He was predeceased by his parents, Maas van Velthuizen and Jacoba Albertha van Velthuizen-Klok; his daughter, Jackie Slingerland; all of his brothers and sisters, and all in-laws; and his parents-in-law, Elbertus van Middendorp and Hermyntje van Middendorp-van Harten.
Condolences will be held at 7:00 – 8:00pm p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the NETHERLANDS REFORMED CONGREGATION, 90022 Range Road 211, Lethbridge County, AB.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the NETHERLANDS REFORMED CONGREGATION, 90022 Range Road 211, Lethbridge County, AB, with Reverend P. Kleijer officiating. Interment will follow at Royal View Cemetery.
