DR. C. HARMON CHAPMAN of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Ruth Chapman passed away at Legacy Lodge on Wednesday October 5, 2011 at the age of 97 years.

Harmon was born October 3, 1914 in Sarnia, Ontario, the sixth child of William and Bessie Chapman.

After the death of his father in Belgium in 1917, the family moved to Weston, Ontario. Harmon spent many summers at his grandfather's farm in Sarnia, where he furthered his interest in all things agricultural. Harmon graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1937, and went to work for the Federal government, primarily in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, eventually being posted back in Sarnia.

Harmon married Ruth Peterson on Valentine's Day 1942 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. They had 3 children, Linda, Clifford and Joyce. In 1959, Harmon took a transfer to Lethbridge,
where he assumed the duties of District Veterinarian, until his retirement in 1978. Harmon always treasured his times with family, especially his cousin Marion. Harmon had many interests over the years. He was a Black Angus breeder, stamp collector, leather craftsman, woodworker, faithful fan of the Hurricanes and in his spare time, Harmon went globetrotting with Ruth and friends. Harmon was a long-time member of Southminster United Church, the Lethbridge Kiwanis Club, and the Lethbridge Masonic Lodge.

Harmon's greatest loss was his daughter Linda in 1965. Ruth passed away 9 years ago. Harmon was predeceased by his parents William and Bessie, and his step-father ""Grandpa"" Knothe, his younger brother James, his sisters, Della, Charlotte, Florence, Dorothy and Ruth. Harmon is survived by his son Clifford, daughter Joyce (Ron) Gregson, two grandsons, Jason (Melanie) and Chris (Becky), and a great-grandson Thomas (Jaydean) Gregson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at SOUTHMINSTER UNITED CHURCH, 1011 4 Avenue South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Deborah Lannon, officiating.

Interment at Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge.

In lieu of flowers dontations may be made to the Lethbridge Community Foundation 404-8 Street South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 2S7.
