Charles Bryant

We wish to announce the passing of an amazing husband, father, grandfather, friend, and person. CHARLIE BRYANT of Coaldale, beloved husband of Miki Bryant, passed away on May 9, 2011 at the age of 84 years.

Charlie was born September 15, 1926 to Charles and Maida Bryant of Lethbridge. He attended public school in Lethbridge and then received his arts degree at UBC and his education degree at the U of A. Charlie's teaching career spanned 34 years and was spent mostly in Coaldale at R.I.Baker School and then at Kate Andrews High School. He taught phys ed, German, social studies and English. He had a great love of literature, language, and words.

Charlie loved carpentry, haying and puttering at 'the farm', golf, tennis, singing and playing the guitar, fixing things, and debating issues. He was a long standing member of the Anglican Church of Ascension in Coaldale and referred to the church's members as his extended family. Charlie's favourite places included main street in Coaldale, 'the farm', Waterton, and Rosen Lake.

Besides his loving wife of 62 years, Miki, Charlie is survived by his children, Steve (Erin), Dawn (Wally), Jeff, Michael (Laverne), and Paul (Debbie), grandchildren Rena, Jolene, Jeff, Janelle, Jayce, Kevan, Candace, Joel, and 5 great grandchildren.

Charlie loved nature and enjoyed the small things in life. His faith in God was unwavering. His optimistic, caring, gentle, patient, and generous ways, and his ability to see the good in everyone were appreciated by many.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday May 28, 2011 at COALDALE UNITED CHURCH, 2022 - 18 Street, Coaldale with Canon Erin Phillips and Reverend Michael Ebsworth, officiating.
