With great sadness, the family of CAROLINE ELIZABETH HAMILTON (nee: Lonsdale), announce her passing on Friday, October 28, 2011. She was surrounded by her honoured family and was just five days short of her upcoming 80th birthday and six weeks short of her 60th wedding anniversary.

Caroline's jovial spirit was challenged by numerous health issues over the years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her supportive and encouraging spirit will be sorely missed and many of her favorite moments were the times spent at family gatherings. Our family will forever cherish our memories of her loving nature, great humour and fine cooking. Caroline had a great love for numerous pets over the years and would often be seen with one lounging on her lap.

Caroline was born November 2nd, 1931 to John & Mary Lonsdale as the youngest child of eight and was raised on the family farm near Warner, Alberta. She is survived by her husband, William (Bill) Hamilton, children: Edward (Bud) Hamilton (Claire) of Canmore, AB, Marv Hamilton of Kelowna, B.C., Kathy Prongua of Saskatoon, SK. & Carla Hastie of Lethbridge. Caroline was a proud Grandmother of eleven and a Great-Grandmother of three, and was an Aunt to numerous nieces & nephews. She was the last living sibling & is survived by a brother-in-law, Herb Kuehn & sister-in-law, Katherine Lavers. Caroline was predeceased by siblings: Alice Euphemia (Lind) Jensen, Blanche (Wilbur) Opitz, Edith (Harold) Orcutt, Grace Kuehn, John Lonsdale, Beneth (William) Doram and Edward Lonsdale; sister-in-law, Ruby Wood (Bud) and son-in-law, Charles Prongua.
Caroline attended Warner School and then Garbett Business College. She later worked for her brother Edward at his hotel in Warner, where she met Bill, the love of her life. They started their family, then moved to Skiff, later moving into Lethbridge. While raising her family, she was also a bookkeeper until her retirement.

Our family would like to express our deep gratitude for the compassionate care that Caroline received from the staff and friends at Fairmont Extendicare, Martha's House and from Dr. Longair and Dr. McPherson.

A Memorial Service in Celebration of Caroline's Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011 at MCKILLOP UNITED CHURCH, 2329-15 Ave. South, Lethbridge, AB.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Caroline's memory to the Alzheimer's Society #402 740 4 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 0N9, the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, Box 2211, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 4K7 or the Lethbridge & District Humane Society, Box 783, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 3Z6.
