Allan Bruce Ritchie

September 9, 1935 ~ July 12, 2018

Mr. Allan Bruce Ritchie of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the age of 82 years.

Bruce was born in Lethbrige, Alberta to Jean Alexandra Watson and Joseph Norman Ritchie. Predeceased by his younger brother, Dr. Howard Norman Ritchie, Bruce is survived by his three loving children; Linden Ritchie, Cody (and Patsy) Ritchie, and Renie Ritchie, along with their children; Hannah Ritchie-Florez, Mack and Jack Colwell, Parker and Andrew McMurrey, Julia and Kristin Ritchie; and his beloved nephew, Doug Ritchie; and cousins Mike and Dan Meakin.

Bruce had a keen intellect and spirit of wanderlust, fueled by his impressive size, strength and athleticism, he was molded through the experiences of the YMCA and Camp Inuspi in Lethbridge, and was a Provincial Champion swimmer, as well as life-guard in Waterton.

Under the tutelage, care and protection of his Grandfather, Superintendent of Lethbridge Alberta Schools, Allan Watson, Bruce was an honors student graduating from LCI in Lethbridge and the University of Alberta with a Bachelor’s of Commerce degree. Bruce also served as an Officer with the Lord Strathcona Regiment (RC).

His career experience as a stock broker with Burns Brothers led him into executive management with Husky Oil, Cody Wyoming and later serving as V.P. of First Wyoming Bank Casper.

Bruce was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity, avid Children’s Hospital supporter and an intrepid explorer, loved motorcycles and garnered his sailor’s certificate later in life. His sense of humor, mystique, humility and love will be cherished. “Well done good and faithful servant.”
