Joyce Ann Brown August 31, 1920 ~ November 13, 2014 On November 13th the world lost a very sweet soul. Joyce was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Anyone who ever met Joyce would instantly know that she was someone special. Her soft voice and happy demeanor would always greet you. Born in Llanhilleth, South Wales to Issac and Jenet Hathaway, Joyce was the second of three daughters, Vera (George) Hills of Kent, UK and Rita (Chuck) Harvey of Sidney, BC. Joyce received her formal education in Wales and became a nurses aid when the war broke out in Europe. Stationed in Portsmouth England she meet a young Canadian soldier by the name of James Brown. They soon married and started a family. After the war, with babe in arms and one on the way, Joyce immigrated to Canada on the Queen Mary to start a new life as a war bride in Lethbridge. She became the best housekeeper for her young family for many years and would only work outside the home to help ensure there was Christmas presents under the tree for everyone. Her greatest joy was always her family. Joyce and Jimmy would raise six boys in all, Michael (Carol) of Nanaimo, BC, Bryson (Debbie) of Edmonton, AB, Lance (Lynda) of Ft. McMurray, AB, Mason (Sheri) of Lethbridge, AB, Bobby (Pat) of Lethbridge, AB, and Bradford (Karin) Lethbridge, AB. Having this many boys in one family generated a large amount of grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as having numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She would always show her love to each and everyone them. Joyce found time in her life to enjoy five pin bowling, bingo, knitting her famous buffalo sweaters, watching John Wayne movies, as well as traveling with her sister Rita. Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners were her specialties, a house full of family gave her the greatest joy. At Joyce's request a celebration of life will take place in the spring of next year. When the sun is high and the flowers are blooming... ""need a goodness now boyho"" She will be missed.
