He had two beautiful granddaughters, Hannah Blackmer and Sydney Brilz. He is also survived by his stepmother, Barbara Brilz; as well as his younger brother and sister, Tom Brilz (Violet) and Lenore Froehlich (Don); and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
Leo was predeceased by his parents, Erasmus and Lydia; and his older brother, Victor.
Leo was born in Richmound, Saskatchewan on August 30th, 1934. His family later moved to Medicine Hat where he resided until 2002. During this time, Leo worked for AGT (Telus) and raised his family. As a young father, he enjoyed flying radio-controlled airplanes, gardening, and spending time with his family. In 1978, Leo moved his family to an acreage just outside of the Hat. He often said, ""Living in the country is like being on vacation all year round!"" He became interested in riding and training horses, especially Tennessee Walkers. Leo drove his horse and carriage in many of the Hat parades. After retiring Leo spent his time golfing, traveling and became an avid marketer of various products. He later took up residence in Lethbridge where he continued to enjoy dancing, playing duplicate bridge and going for coffee with the ""boys"" at the Lethbridge Casino. Leo loved purchasing the latest gadgets and made regular contributions to the ""Shopping Channel"". Leo's faith in God remained strong throughout his life. In his later years, he valued watching the Daily Mass on TV. As well as his devotion to the Holy Trinity, he also had a special place in his heart for the Blessed Virgin Mary. This had been passed on to him by his loving mother, Lydia.
