Bob Dogterom

ROBERT ""BOB"" DOGTEROM of Lethbridge, AB passed away peacefully at St. Michael's Palliative Care Centre on July 8, 2008, at the age of 85 years.
Irmgard Dogterom, Bob's loving wife of 40 years, predeceased him in September 2006. His brothers Jack and Roy also predeceased him. He is survived by his sister Nelly (George) Mann of Lethbridge, children Naomi Staddon of Vancouver, Jud (Diane) Dogterom of Ottawa, Teddy (Gerrit) Warmink of Monarch, Dalyce (Len) Ballard of Quadra Island, BC; grandchildren Tracy Warmink and Sherry Smith of Lethbridge, Gwyneth (Jim) Gifford of Houston, TX, Chad (Mary-Beth) Staddon of Bristol, England, and seven great grandchildren.

From his humble professional beginning hauling livestock in the back of a second-hand car in the 1940's he evolved into a successful businessman, well known in the southern Alberta agriculture industry as a livestock dealer and order buyer, a rancher and a farmer/feedlot operator. In his later years he ventured into property development in the United States. He became an institution in southern Alberta, seemingly known to everyone. Bob also quietly contributed to a number of charities over many years.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4th St. South, Lethbridge, AB, with Pastor Brian Magee officiating.
