Ardell Billyard
1949 ~ 2017
Ardell Billyard passed away peacefully on June 3, 2017 at the age of 67 yrs old. Ardell is survived by his three children, Chad (Kristy) Billyard, Derek Hoyle, and Nichole Billyard. Besides his children he is also survived by his three grandchildren, Oliver, Isaiah, and Jack Billyard.
Ardell was born in Saskatoon, Sask. on Oct. 31, 1949 to George and Margaret Billyard. He grew up with his 4 sisters, Carol, Betty, Lynn, and Fran, and his brother, Dale, in Claresholm, AB. He left Claresholm in 1969 with hopes and dreams for the big city of Lethbridge.
He worked hard as a labourer in the early years, and took great pride in his workmanship. Chad was born in 1977 and Ardell’s joy in being a father began. Ardell worked hard, usually holding down more than one job to provide for his family. He loved to dirt bike, camp in the mountains, and spend time with friends.
Ardell’s Father George taught him and Chad to golf, beginning a life long love of the sport. Ardell and Chad spent many weekends playing golf, riding bikes, and throwing the baseball together.
In 1995 Ardell gained another son, Derek Hoyle. Although not his own son, Ardell took on the role of Father without hesitation. Derek and Ardell loved to spend time listening to music together, pumping up the volume when mom was out of town. Ardell played an instrumental role in teaching Derek the value of hard work. They started with mowing lawns and working at Don Perry’s acreage together. Apart from work, taking road trips through the mountains were some of their most cherished times together.
Nichole was born in 2002, giving Ardell his beloved little girl. Having a baby girl at 52 would be a challenge to anyone, but he embraced this role head on. Nichole was his renewed purpose to be a provider and father once again. Ardell and Nichole loved to read, watch movies, drink coffee and shop together. His determination to always provide the best for her was unwavering.
His joy in his children was his greatest accomplishment. His generosity and love of gift giving was evident in his life. He always had something to share even when it seemed like he had nothing to give.
Over the last 10 yrs his health started to decline so he spent more time reading books, drinking coffee, and talking with friends.
Ardell will be remembered for his hard work and love for his children.
