Betty Martin

MRS. ELIZABETH ""BETTY"" MARTIN nee Hay of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Mr. Moe (Maurice) Martin, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at the age of 69 years.

Betty was born September 16, 1940 in Lethbridge. She began her nursing career in 1959, which spanned 45 years, and retired from nursing in 2006. Besides nursing Betty also had a short career in aviation as a flight attendant.

Betty married her life-long partner, Moe, in 1962.

She had a love for quilting, travel, camping, playing the piano and organ, golf and spending winters in their home in Desert Hot Springs, California for the past 12 years. Betty loved time spent with family.

Betty is survived by her husband Moe and sons, Mitch and Murray (Shelly Lammi) along with ""granddaughters"" Whitney and Carly. She was predeceased by her parents Thomas & Bernice Hay and brother, Tom Hay.

Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, with Father Tim Boyle, celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Michael's Health Centre Foundation, Palliative Care, 1400 - 9th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 4V5 or to the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation, Radiation Therapy, 960 - 19th Street South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 1W5.
