Mrs. Betty Irene Housley of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Ernest Housley, passed away after a lengthy illness at Edith Cavell Care Centre on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the age of 93 years.

Betty was born and raised in Lethbridge, born November 1, 1924 to parents Lillie and Ben Charles. She attended and graduated from LCI and worked briefly for Scotia Bank before she met Ernie at a community dance hall. They married September 11, 1946 and were happily married for 64 years until Ernie’s passing.

Mom enjoyed cooking and baking, entertaining, playing cards, trailering and travelling to Hawaii.

For years, Mom belonged to a sewing club. Mom, along with Dad, belonged to Laurel Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. She was a kind person, gracious hostess and a meticulous housekeeper.

Betty is survived by her daughter Donna Wiebe (Victor); 2 sons Dennis Housley (Diane) and Douglas Housley (Beatriz); 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Marg Charles and Mary Crabb; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Besides her loving husband Ernest Housley, Betty was predeceased by her parents Lillie and Ben Charles; brothers Art and Bernie; sisters Gladys and Elsie; as well as her grandson Dean.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at 1:00pm on Friday, July 20, 2018 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4th Street South, Lethbridge, AB.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30pm on Friday, July 20, 2018 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL. Interment will follow in the Archmount Cemetery.
