MRS. HILDA BELISLE (Wehlage) formerly of Milk River, passed away in Lethbridge on Friday, May 2, 2008 at the age of 86 years. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis (Frenchy) Belisle.
Hilda is survived by her children: David (Linda) of Lethbridge, Judy (Donald) Chapman of Lethbridge, Sharon (Roy) Thompson of Cardston, Robert (Marg) of Lethbridge, Annette of Vancouver, B.C., and Joanne (Dennis) Nelson of Skiff; 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren with 2 to arrive this summer. She is also survived by her 3 brothers: Ben, Edwin (Yvonne), Elmer (Marjorie) Wehlage of Milk River, sisters-in-law Anita Durand, Louise Belisle, Muriel (Bunny) Marshall and brother-in-law Warren Narum of Calgary as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Hilda was predeceased by her husband Frenchy, son John, grandsons Kevin Belisle and Leigh Chapman, 2 brothers Arthur and Albert and 3 brothers-in-law Max Durand, Jack Marshall. John Belisle, as well as 2 sisters-in-law Marion Narum and Olive Wehlage.
Hilda was born in Ogema, Minnesota on December 14th, 1921. The family moved to the Allerston area in 1930 where the family farmed. She received her education in Allerston and Masinasin. She met Frenchy while he was down visiting relatives and they were married on January 3, 1944. After his discharge from the Air Force they moved back to Masinasin where they farmed and raised their family. In 1975 they moved to Milk River where she resided until January 2007 when she moved to the Pemmican Lodge, in Lethbridge.
Hilda was an active member of the C.W.L in Allerston and Milk River for 66 years. The Church and her faith were very important to her. She loved to crochet, knit and do needle work. Gardening and her flowers were a great love of hers as she still enjoyed a fresh bouquet of flowers brought to her every week. In later years ceramics and china painting took priority in her retirement. Many, many lovely pieces of her work have been given to family and friends to be cherished.
Hilda thoroughly enjoyed family, friends and especially her grand and great-grandchildren.
A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, May 6th, 2008 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4th St. S., Lethbridge.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M., on Wednesday, May 7th, 2008 at ST. PETER'S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Main Street North, Milk River, AB.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 207, 542 - 7th Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J2H1
