Barbara Karbashewski 1938 ~ 2013

It is with incredible sadness David and Karen Karbashewski announce the passing of their mother Barbara Ann Karbashewski (nee Trivett) on September 4, 2013. Barb was born in Calgary on October 30, 1938 to Margaret and William Trivett, the youngest of three children and sister to Donald and Lorna. She met the love of her life and she and Bill (Karbo) were married August 20, 1960. Barb was a teacher with Lethbridge School District #51 for three decades and loved her profession and her students. She was not only a life-long teacher, but also a life-long student. In her retirement she spent a great deal of time tending her English garden, improving her golf game and playing bridge with a group of wonderful ladies. She was also an avid reader, book club member, crossword solver and depression glass collector. Barb was predeceased by her parents, her husband Bill in 2009 and brother Don in 2011. She is survived by her son David and wife Elizabeth and their three girls; Jessica, Stephanie and Michelle, all of Calgary. She is also survived by her daughter Karen of Edmonton and her sister Lorna Walker of Toronto. She will be missed by Bill's brother Peter (Mary) Karbashewski and sister Judy (Ron) Rudkowsky all of Willingdon. Barb was also fond of her many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Barb and her life will take place at 11:00am on Monday, September 9, 2013 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Terry Shillington, officiating. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, P.O. Box 2211 Lethbridge, AB T1J 4K7.
