Barbara Jean Christie

BARBARA-JEAN CHRISTIE-KOBE passed away in her home on July 11, 2007 after a battle with cancer at the age of 61 years with her children at her side. She will be sadly missed by, her husband Wilfred Kobe; son Richard Paquette of Trail B.C.; daughters Deborah-Jean (Ben) Ng of Calgary, AB and Beverly-Ann Paquette of Fort McMurray, AB; her brother Doug (Robin) Christie of Crossfield, AB; as well as many friends and extended family.

Barbara -Jean or ""Buzzin"" as she was fondly called in her youth was born in Cardston, AB on June 8, 1946 to Brock and Gwen Christie. After graduating High School, she attended Montana State University for 2 years and in 1970 graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Galt School of Nursing in Lethbridge, where she received the Bigelow Fowler Memorial Award. June 1970 she was hired on by the Cardston Municipal Hospital. In 1973 she moved to Stoney Plain, where she acted as director of nursing until November of '74, which was when she gave birth to her first child Richard. December '74 she moved to Lethbridge where she nursed part- time until June '77, which was when she gave birth to her second child Deborah-Jean. She was a stay at home mum, giving birth to her third child in February '79 Beverly-Ann. She spent most of her adult life in Lethbridge raising her 3 children. In 1983, she began what would be her lifelong career as a teacher's aide at Agnes Davidson Elementary School, as well as devoted a lot of time working for many charities. In 1997, Barbara-Jean met and fell in love with Wilfred Kobe and on January 3, 2007 they married.

Over her lifetime, Barbara-Jean has touched the lives of many people, form those she worked with at Agnes Davidson, to those of her church at McKillop United, as well as those lifelong friends from Cardston.
Barbara-Jean was predeceased by her father V. Brock Christie and her mother M. Gwendolyn Christie.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00PM and 8:00PM on Monday, July 16, 2007 at MARTIN BROS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4th St. S., Lethbridge.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at MARTIN BROS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, with Dr. Alec Lawson officiating. Interment in the Archmount Cemetery.

Flowers are gratefully declined those who wish memorial donations may be made in Barbara-Jean's memory to a charity of one's choice.
