Nellie Ban

1920 ~ 2017

Mrs. Nellie Ban of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Michael Ban, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the age of 96 years.

Nellie was born in Pomorine Ternipol, Ukraine, the second of eight children. She immigrated to Canada in the early 1930’s with her family and homesteaded in the Coaldale area, where she attended school for a few years.

In her earlier years, Nellie worked in the Galt Hospital. She met Michael Ban in early 1950 and together they moved to Ontario. Michael passed away in 1982 and Nellie moved back to Lethbridge shortly after.

Nellie is survived by one sister, Mary Hoge of Granum, Alberta, two brothers, Anthony (Anne) Prosk of Lethbridge, and Edward Prosk (Sharlene) of Calgary, Alberta, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Besides her loving husband, Michael, Nellie was predeceased by her sisters Stella Lubin and Bernice Prosk; brother-in-law Haven Hoge, brothers Lloyd (Ardelle) Prosk and Steve (Rose) Prosk.

A private family service will be held in the Mountain View Cemetery.
