It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father and grandfather, FORREST (Frosty) EDMUND BALDERSON at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary on Thursday, December 24, 2009, just one day after celebrating his 83rd birthday.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife and best friend of 58 years, Doreen, his 3 sons; Brian, Lloyd (Mary-Lynne), and Ron, his grandchildren; Michelle, Stephen and Randal, as well as 2 great grandchildren, his sister Winona, sister-in-law Lorraine and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Fell and Lucille Balderson, his brother Robert and his sister Grace.

Forrest was a graduate of Farm Construction and Mechanics at S.A.I.T. in Calgary, and went on to farm in the Magrath area for 42 years before selling the farm and retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Alberta and International Flying Farmers, the Lethbridge Flying Club, and a 30 year member of the Lethbridge Elks Club. He was also a member of the Magrath Golf Club, Magrath Curling Club, Magrath Senior Centre and served one term as Mayor of Magrath. One of his great passions was flying. He first obtained his pilot's license in 1949 and in later years enjoyed sharing many hours flying with family and friends in his Cessna. In all, he accumulated over 2200 solo hours. Ironically, Dad took his last flight on December 24 in STARS Air Ambulance.

Frosty was very loving, devoted and generous to his family and friends and loved to share his sense of humor and stories with everyone. Those of us who knew and loved him will miss his bright blue eyes, his big smile and his gentle nature.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge with Reverend George Takashima, officiating.
