Patsy Attwell

Official Obituary of

12/12/1942 - to - 7/11/2011

Patsy Jean Attwell of Lethbridge, beloved Daughter, Sister, Mother and Grandmother passed away suddenly on November 7th 2011 at the age of 68 years.

Pat was born in Vulcan on December 12, 1942 the eldest daughter of Raymond and Mabel Howerton's four children. She completed her schooling in various schools in Calgary, and then went on to nursing school finishing in Medicine Hat. She settled into her career as a nursing aid in Calgary at the Grace Hospital. During her early years she met her soul mate William Attwell. They eloped in Edmonton on September 28, 1963 and spent many years together. Her children followed; Darryl James in 1964 and Allan Jeffery in 1965. Her married life was spent raising her kids and helping her husband build their business, Hearth and Patio. In the late 70's the family moved to Lethbridge. Mom found many friends at their church, First Baptist, and in her various jobs in the city. Her last job was working in a Southern Alberta Community Living Association group home. She also gave back as the Canadian Diabetes Association President. After William's passing in 2010 she moved into Grandview Village and enjoyed the fellowship of the community there.

Besides her children, Pat is survived by her mother Mabel, sister-in law Mary Hawkins, grandchildren Stephanie, Cassandra, Neil, Adam, Tyler, and great grandson Carter. She is also survived by her brothers Roger (Josie) Howerton & Roy (Shaunda) Howerton, sister Pauline (Ken) Scott, as well as numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.

Mom was predeceased by the love of her life Bill and her father Ray.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 14, 2011 at FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 1614 5 Avenue South, Lethbridge, with Dr. Bruce Martin, officiating.

Flowers are gratefully declined. Those who wish, donations in Patsy's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 210D, 12 A St. N., Lethbridge, AB, T1H 2J1 or to the First Baptist Church, 1614 5th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 0W3.
