MR. CHARLES ALLAN ARKINSTALL of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Viola May Arkinstall, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2008 at the age of 93 years.

Allan was born on August 18, 1915 at the Galt Hospital to Charles and Margery Arkinstall. He was raised and educated in Lethbridge with three years of schooling in Grassy Lake. Allan joined the Canadian Army in 1942-1944 and in July to August of 1943 the army officials asked him if he would consent going to Adak and Kiska looking for the Japanese and their boobey traps. After completing this mission he was discharged, so he came back home.

He worked for the Canada Safeway for 30 years and then worked for the Catholic School Board for 10 years, retiring in 1975. He was a life member of the I.O.O.F., Masonic Lodge, the LSCO, Nord-bridge Senior's and the 55 plus Seniors Sports and Recreation.

Allan is survived by Viola, his loving wife for the past 57 years, as well as his son Everett and daughter Valerie. He was predeceased by his parents and one sister.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 -4 Street South, Lethbridge, with Major Brian Beveridge officiating. Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Memory of Allan Arkinstall to the Visual Eye Research Foundation, c/o 24 Northmount Dr. NW, Calgary, AB T2K 2E8 or to the Nord-Bridge Seniors Centre, 1904 - 13 Ave North, Lethbridge, AB T1H 4W9.
