Annette Brown

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Annette Brown on October 17, 2025, in Lethbridge, AB at the age of 91, after a 16-year journey with dementia.

Annette is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Daryl Wilson; granddaughters, Renée, Keira, and Monica Wilson; brothers, Paul and Simon (Rita) Rivest; sister, Denise Rivest; and sister-in-law, Martha Rivest; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Burt in 2021; her parents, Lucien and Emeric Rivest; nine siblings; six brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law.

Annette was born October 24, 1933, in Pickardville, AB, the 8th of 13 children. The family later moved to Jarvie, AB, where she was raised. After high school, Annette moved to Edmonton and began a 27-year career with the Royal Bank. She and Burt met and married “late in life,” and Annette retired from the bank after Nicole was born in order to enjoy motherhood. In 1979, the family moved to Calgary where Annette, a devoted Catholic, lived out her faith as a parishioner of St. Bonaventure Parish. She was a member of the CWL for over 40 years and was active in prayer ministries and social groups at the church. Annette always welcomed family and friends into her home, making them feel special. She loved telling jokes and singing songs, and her lively personality left a lasting impression on everyone she met. In later years, Annette especially enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters, her pride and joy. After Burt’s passing, Annette moved to Lethbridge to be close to Nicole and her family.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Edith Cavell Care Centre in Lethbridge for the exemplary and dignified care they gave Annette the last three and a half years.

A Funeral Mass was held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 10, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Basilica, 10044 - 113 Street NW, Edmonton, AB., with Rev. Paul Kavanagh officiating.
