MRS. ANNE ROYCROFT of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Thomas William Roycroft, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2009 at the St. Michael's Health Care Centre at the age of 97 years.
Anne was born in Airdrie, Scotland to William and Cecilia McLellen. She was one of 12 brothers and sisters.
She is remembered by one sister Eva, of Philadelphia as well as her two sons, Fred (Betty) and Bill (Barb). She has 6 grandchildren, Joel (Laurinda), Erin (Lincoln), Jason, Daymen (Kristen), Michelle and Brendon (Jen) and nine great-grandchildren. Her husband, Tom Roycroft predeceased her in 1981.
Anne immigrated to Canada in 1937 and lived in Woodstock, Ont., until she married Tom in 1944. They moved to Lethbridge in 1946. Shortly after their arrival they began the church which met in the Farmers Market and eventually became the Lethbridge Christian Tabernacle. Anne began a career with Social Services where she was office manager until her retirement.
She was active with Bow Valley Camp since 1959. Anne enjoyed working at the Church with Tom and was faithful to pray for each in the congregation. She became an honorary grandmother to many. Her lifelong friend Margaret Wilkie of Renton, Washington wrote frequently and visited Anne almost every year. She and Barb traveled extensively but most of their outings included the local Ice Cream Shop.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00PM, on Friday, February 6, 2009, at the LETHBRIDGE CHRISTIAN TABERNACLE, 1805 - 9 Ave., N., Lethbridge, AB.
