Anne McGuire

Anne Marie McGuire, aged 61, passed away suddenly on September 11, 2016 at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital. Anne was born August 23, 1955 in Arnprior, Ontario, the daughter of the late John Patrick McGuire and of Lois McGuire of Edmonton, Alberta.

On July 12, 1975 she married Wayne Clark and they were blessed with their daughter Erin Anne on November 26, 1976. Later on in life Anne married Gordon Smith in Red Deer, AB. They moved to the Northwest Territories where they lived for many years with their beloved dogs, Paddy and Spencer. She eventually moved to Lethbridge, AB to be closer to Erin and granddaughter Mckayla. This also gave her an opportunity to be closer to mother Lois and sister Mary.

Anne had many interests and talents which included interior design, photography and a passion for genealogy. One of her dreams involving genealogy was realized most recently when she compiled a wonderful collection of family history and recipes.

Anne was always drawn to helping people as demonstrated in her life work which included, addictions counselling, special needs addiction counselling, working with handicapped people, and vocational counselling. She was an avid student and she acquired diplomas in early childhood education, social work, addictions counselling, and vocational counselling.

Family and friends were Anne’s passion and delight. She cherished every moment with her daughter Erin and Granddaughter Mckayla. Anne was especially happy to have recently reconnected with numerous cousins from all over Canada and the US while completing her book.

Anne is survived by her mother Lois; daughter Erin and her husband Joey; granddaughter Mckayla; grandson Dustin; Sister Mary and her husband Mohamed; nieces Rebecca and Elizabeth; nephews Joseph, Lucas and Michael. She was predeceased by her sister Jane.

Anne requested a simple celebration of her life and her final resting places will be in her hometown of Arnprior, Ontario as well as ancestral properties in Ireland.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 - 12 Ave. S., Lethbridge, AB., with Father Lukas Drapal, celebrant.
