Anne Fairfield, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 93.

Anne was born in Calgary on June 13, 1923, the eldest granddaughter of early Calgary pioneers. She moved with her parents, Jack and Eva Hutchings, and her brother John to Lethbridge in 1931.

After briefly attending university and a whirlwind courtship, Anne married Jimmie Fairfield, an RCAF instructor, in 1942. Following WW II, they settled in Lethbridge. Anne became involved at Southminster United Church, where she was a lifetime member of the UCW. She also served for several years as an active community volunteer, on the board of the Lethbridge YWCA, as a driver for Meals on Wheels, and in later years as a volunteer and participant at the LSCO. Anne enjoyed lifelong friendships with members of her bridge clubs, sorority, and the ‘48 Group at her church.

She was predeceased by Jimmie, her brother John (Joan Hutchings) and her sister-in-law Gladys.

Anne was always a loving, thoughtful, fun-loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, niece, neighbour and friend. The family spent many memorable times together at the family cabin in Gladstone Valley, and Anne enjoyed happy days with Jimmie at “The Mine.” During her recent years at the View, Anne cherished times with her new friends.

She is survived by sons David and Robert and her daughter Judy (Terry Hasinoff), granddaughter Erin (Matt Weiner), her great-grandson (Louis), as well as a close extended family.

The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Michael’s Care Centre, A and G Wings, and the staff at Lethbridge Regional Hospital (4C and 5B) for their exceptional care.

A Memorial Funeral service will be held at 11:30am on Monday, July 25, 2016 at SOUTHMINSTER UNITED CHURCH-BUCHANAN CHAPEL, 1011 4 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB T1J 0P7 with Dr. Austin Fennel, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the organizations that made a difference in Anne’s life including: Canadian Cancer Society (317-10th St. S., Lethbridge, AB T1J 2M7), Alzheimer’s Society (402-740 4th Ave. S.
