ALLEEN VIOLA KIRBY (nee Tennant) of Picture Butte, Alberta, beloved wife of the late Mr. William (Bill) Kirby passed away peacefully August 25, 2011 at the age of 98 years.

She is survived by her son Joseph Kirby of Grand Prairie; sister in law Margorie Tennant, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Alleen was born August 15, 1913 in her grandmother's house, on the farm southeast of Iron Springs. She married Bill on November 23, 1938 and lived on the farm until 1974 after which they moved to the Hamlet of Iron Springs. In 1982 they moved to Piyami Manor, and then to Piyami Lodge in 1998. For the past eight months Alleen lived in the Piyami Place. Alleen was active in the Women's Institute, CGIT Club, and WI Girls Club. She also spent countless hours volunteering at the Picture Butte Hospital.

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service at 4:00PM on Wednesday August 31, 2011 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4 Street South, Lethbridge, Ab.
