Alfred Lange

Alfred Lange, known as Ali to his Molly, and to others as Alf, Dad, Papa and Opa passed away peacefully in Lethbridge, Alberta on October 1, 2024. By his side was the love of his life and wife of 62 years, Ellen.

Alfred was born on January 22, 1942, in Greifswald, Germany. He later met Ellen through mutual friends, falling in love and marrying two years later. Being two adventurous souls, Alfred and Ellen came to Canada in 1965 where they came to raise their five daughters: Heide (Stan) Wright, Trish (Ron) DeCoteau, Nancy (Brett) Livingston, Andrea Lange, and Joy (Justin) George. Over the years, they experienced many Canadian cities–exploring from coast to coast. Later in life, Alfred and Ellen retired in Carmangay where he enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with family.

Alfred was a loving Opa to grandchildren: Angela, Janine (Steve), Sue, Michael, Andrew (Shevon), Amanda (predeceased), Jake, Karsten, Mya, and Kayla and great-grandchildren: Lennox, Sophia, Wyatt, Caleb, Olivia, Amelia, Luka, Nixon, Vivian, Teany, Siannon, Elias, Micah, and Luna.

Alfred will be remembered as a dedicated and hardworking father who always took care of his family. He was an artist at heart, creating in every space he could. He enjoyed entertaining others with his harmonica and accordion and was known for his sense of humour and playful nature.

A Celebration of Life will be held privately for family and close friends.
