Alexander Sera

MR. ALEX SERA of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Elizabeth Sera passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the age of 87 years.

Alex was born in Hungary on December 31, 1922. In 1929, at the age of 6, Alex and his family immigrated to Canada and settled on a farm in Raymond, Alberta. The farming tradition continued with the purchase of a farm in the Coaldale area in 1944. Along with his loving wife Elizabeth and six children, he raised prize winning purebred Angus cattle, sugar beets and grain. He traveled extensively with cattle shows, was involved with 4H, Rotary, the Coaldale Curling Club, and enjoyed camping and boating with his family.

In 1972, Alex sold the family farm to pursue a career in Real Estate until his retirement. With the new found freedom, many cold Alberta winters were spent motor-homing in Arizona.

Alex is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth, daughter Carolyn (Clair) Handsaeme, and sons Ron (Darlene), Allen (Dorothy), Bob (Evelyn), Richard (Carrie), and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alex was predeceased by his eldest daughter Shirley (Albert) Medve.

A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at ST. ANDREW'S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 1818 5th Avenue South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Hugh Jack, officiating.

Interment at Mountain View Cemetery.
