It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Alan “Big Al” Aos, who passed away on July 1, 2026, at the age of 90.
Alan was predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia (Pat) Aos, in May 2006; his parents, Orville and Catherine (Katie) Aos; and his sister, Shirley. Together, Alan and Pat built a life rooted in love, family, and friendship. Her memory remained close to his heart throughout the years that followed.
Alan will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Rick (Rhonda) Aos and Doug Aos; his cherished grandchildren, Zac (Darby), Alli, and Ty; his brother, Don Aos; his niece Alecia (Lyle) Moore; his nephew Donnie (Kim) Aos; and his grand-niece and grand-nephews, Sydney (Billy), Spencer, and Brady, along with numerous extended family members and dear friends.
Known affectionately as “Big Al” and the “Silver Fox,” Alan was a true character whose quick wit, infectious laugh, and larger-than-life personality brought joy wherever he went. He had a knack for making people smile and could always be counted on for a good story, a playful joke, or a comment that would leave everyone laughing. Whether at a family gathering, a sporting event, or around a campfire, Alan made every occasion more memorable simply by being there.
Throughout his working years, Alan was known to many in Lethbridge through his time as a Service Advisor at College Ford Mercury, where he built lasting relationships with customers and coworkers alike. Later, he worked at Lethbridge College, where his friendly nature and strong work ethic continued to leave a positive impression on those around him.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Alan had a special love for baseball and proudly followed two generations of Legion baseball. Whether at the ballpark, in the stands, or talking sports with family and friends, he was one of the game's most loyal supporters. He was also an enthusiastic fan of the Lethbridge Hurricanes and enjoyed cheering on his favourite team.
Nothing brought Alan greater pride than his family. He was his grandchildren's biggest fan, faithfully cheering them on through baseball, dance, basketball, hockey, and all of life's adventures. As they grew older, his support never wavered. He took great pride in their careers, accomplishments, and the people they became.
Some of Alan's happiest moments were spent at Wasa Lake, where family and friends gathered around campfires filled with music, laughter, stories, and time together. If a favourite song came on, Alan was quick to say, "Turn it up!" Those special days reflected what mattered most to him: family, friendship, and making memories with the people he loved.
Alan's legacy is one of love, laughter, loyalty, and unwavering support. He taught those around him the importance of showing up for the people you love, enjoying life's simple pleasures, and never taking family for granted. He leaves behind countless stories, cherished memories, and a family forever grateful for the time they shared with him.
After twenty years apart, Alan is now reunited with his beloved Pat.
